VALUE ADDED FEEDS
Providing nutrient reclaim products by utilizing patent processes with the mission of reducing wastes in the food industry and reclaiming the valuable vitamins and nutrients was the basis for starting Value Added Feeds as Alternative Feeds in 1989. The technology developed by Value Added Feeds in Dallas, Texas provides young calves a dairy product that is identical to milk in nutrition, appearance and consistency and it has remained completely sanitized, with bacterial counts measured at the on-site laboratory. Value Added Feeds formed a mission to provide "Feed from Food" in as many areas as possible, providing animal feed from nutrients reclaimed from the food industry. These processes are the result of combining the extravagant minds of Mark Quinn, DVM, Gary Rowher, PhD (Parma Laboratories), and David Hutchison, PhD (Animal Agricultural Consulting Services). Value Added Feeds maintains the GREEN INITIATIVE of Melissa Feeders by eliminating the disposal of dairy and food products into landfills and sewage systems, while also recycling all the packaging materials of the original products. If you are interested in purchasing the Milk or Feed products, please contact Value Added Feeds.

MELISSA FEEDERS FEEDYARD
As one of the longest lived feedyards in Texas, Melissa Feeders is historical in its region. Located just north of Dallas, Melissa Feeders has seen the surrounding area grow in tremendous proportions and has utilized this as an opportunity to support the relationship between agriculture and urban development. This region of Texas is subject to much higher levels of rainfall than most feedlot areas; however Melissa Feeders has made great use of the resources. All runoff water is collected in grass strip filtered ponds and irrigates a turf grass farm. As the turf grass is harvested for golf courses, schools, parks and housing developments, the nutrients are recycled and given back to the soil in healthy amounts. Pen scrapings are also collected, dried, screened and bagged as high quality compost for sale at local retailers.
